Laura Phelps-Stackhouse

I have been an athlete my whole life, starting with soccer and then finding my passion for gymnastics and track & field in high school. I continued my love for running through out college, as a hobby, at Ohio State and Bowling Green and even post-college but I was craving more. At age 23, I started lifting weights at a local Powerhouse gym. This led me into bodybuilding, and I competed in three shows. Still, I wanted more. I began adding “powerlifts” into my training and found that these lifts were getting really strong, really fast.

My first powerlifting meet was push/pull - I was HOOKED. I started traveling to train with veteran powerlifters in Detroit and at Westside Barbell and properly trained for a sanctioned full power meet. In my first meet I squatted 551, bench pressed 303, and deadlifted 440. Three months later, I competed in one of the largest competitions in the world and broke the All-Time Squat World Record by 66 pounds (683 pounds), and the All-Time Total World Record. I continued to spend the next 10 years competing with great success under the eye and guidance of Louie Simmons and my own personal programming.

Post Powerlifting

As I began tapering my competitive career, I wanted to continue spreading the Conjugate Method through fostering and coaching athletes. So, I began personal training, coaching and programming in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2008. Since then, I have successfully coached dozens of athletes to elite totals, pro totals, and world records. But even more importantly, I have made powerlifting and the Conjugate method accessible and approachable for everyone.

Queen Bee Power was officially launched in 2017 after the demand for a tested, tried and true raw and equipped powerlifting team was at an all time high. In addition to powerlifting programming, we also offer Crossfit strength and WOD programming. It has been so rewarding watching my athletes, old and new, succeed and reach goals that otherwise were not attainable.
